Description | The 'Red Indians' here were taking part in the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show which toured England during 1887. The show which portrayed life in the Wild West, visited Stretford's Botancial Gardens on two occasions. The entertainment included daring horse-riding displays, mock battles and hand to hand combat between Cowboys and Indians. The show was run by Buffalo Bill himself, Colonel William F. Cody. |

Abstract | For a time the Indians lodged at Salford and during their stay, Edward Little Chief, a grandson of Sitting Bull of the Ogallala band of the Dakota sioux and his wife Good Robe, had their daughter, Frances Alexandra, baptised at St Clement's Church in Salford. |
